This series was supposed to finally provide serious collectors of Carl Barks' classic work with hardback, original-text, original-colors versions of his stories. This volume abandons that goal by repeatedly removing Barks' original text and replacing it with obvious, computerized lettering for the sake of patronizing and bizarrely inconsistent censorship. The dialect of "Indian" characters is censored to remove words like "diggum" and "paleface" at some points, but left unchanged at others; the word "shanghaied" is removed, a joke about Donald's evidently learning barbering from an "Indian war chief" has been deleted, and the word "violent" has been deleted and replaced with the word "angry," evidently to spare the tender sensibilities of the readers. These are only a few examples of the rampant censorship in this edition; the series has evidently abandoned its mission of preserving Barks' great works for posterity. A true shame.
